Review - Super Engine GT Turbo Spec
As someone who loves racing games I was super excited to try out Super Engine GT Turbo Spec. This is a fun arcade style racing game with nice cel shaded graphics. There are 12 cars to choose from and 4 different difficulties to play. I went through the first four races to try it out and enjoyed the graphics and controls. The game runs amazing on the Steam Deck and is a great game to pick up and play a few races. Although I don’t think I will be playing it a lot I am glad that I have it and it is worth owning.
My only real cons for the game were the settings. There are none that you can really change except turning off the music and the sound. Not even a slider to adjust how loud things are. It is either on or it is off. There are no settings to change the graphics at all so I do not know what it is running at. While playing I felt like I was getting screen tearing which means that v-sync is not on. However in the recordings the game looked great since it was locked to 60 frames per second.
You can choose between three different camera angles depending on what view you like the most. There is the basic behind the car view which I used the most. They also have a top down view which makes it a little hard to see what is coming up unless you are focuse on the mini map. The last view was more of an arcade style view and reminded me a lot of Off Road, which I loved as a kid.
My final thoughts on the game are it is worth having for the price tag. It is normally $4.99 and currently on sale for $3.49. I think at this price it is worth picking up to play when you have some free time. Although steam does not say it, it is fully compatible with the Steam Deck. With how low the system requirements are for the game it should run on almost any computer or laptop.
